Why a safe stops opening
Most of the calls we get fall into a handful of buckets. The combination is lost or never got written down, often after a move or when a safe gets passed down from a parent. The electronic keypad has a dead battery or a failed circuit board, so the right code does nothing. The dial spins but the wheels inside are out of alignment, usually on older mechanical safes. Or a key broke off, the lock seized up, or a bolt jammed and won't retract even with the right code or key.

Each type opens a different way, so the first job is reading the safe before touching it, not forcing it.
How CLS opens a safe
Whenever it's possible, we open without damage. On many electronic safes that means swapping a dead battery, reaching a hidden override, or recovering the code so the safe is usable again the moment we're done. On mechanical dial safes we can often manipulate the lock open with no drilling at all.
When a safe truly has to be drilled — a failed lock, a relocker that tripped, a high-end model with no override — we drill in a precise, known spot through a repair point, not at random. Done right, the safe and the contents come through fine and the lock can be repaired or replaced afterward so the safe keeps working. We'll always tell you up front whether your safe is a no-drill job or a drill job, and what that means before we start.
Servicing so it doesn't happen again
Opening the safe is half of it. We also service safes so the next emergency doesn't come.
