Safe Opening & Service in Thousand Oaks & Ventura County

A safe is supposed to be the one place nothing gets out of. That works great until the dial sticks, the keypad goes dead, you forgot the combination, or a key snapped off and now your own valuables are locked away from you. A safe is built to resist exactly the thing you're trying to do, so prying at it or drilling blind usually makes it worse and can wreck what's inside. Lost the combination or locked out of a safe? We also handle safe cracking and safe opening near you across Thousand Oaks and Ventura County.

CLS Locksmith opens and services safes across Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Newbury Park, and the rest of Ventura County. We come to you, figure out what kind of safe you've got and why it won't open, and get it open with the least damage possible. Licensed and insured, CA BSIS #LCO8562, with a free estimate before any work starts.

Why a safe stops opening

Most of the calls we get fall into a handful of buckets. The combination is lost or never got written down, often after a move or when a safe gets passed down from a parent. The electronic keypad has a dead battery or a failed circuit board, so the right code does nothing. The dial spins but the wheels inside are out of alignment, usually on older mechanical safes. Or a key broke off, the lock seized up, or a bolt jammed and won't retract even with the right code or key.

Gun safes, floor and wall safes, fireproof document safes, drop safes behind a register, old combination dial safes in a garage from a previous owner — we see all of them around the Conejo Valley. Each type opens a different way, so the first job is reading the safe before touching it, not forcing it.

How CLS opens a safe

Whenever it's possible, we open without damage. On many electronic safes that means swapping a dead battery, reaching a hidden override, or recovering the code so the safe is usable again the moment we're done. On mechanical dial safes we can often manipulate the lock open with no drilling at all.

When a safe truly has to be drilled — a failed lock, a relocker that tripped, a high-end model with no override — we drill in a precise, known spot through a repair point, not at random. Done right, the safe and the contents come through fine and the lock can be repaired or replaced afterward so the safe keeps working. We'll always tell you up front whether your safe is a no-drill job or a drill job, and what that means before we start.

Servicing so it doesn't happen again

Opening the safe is half of it. We also service safes so the next emergency doesn't come. That covers replacing worn or dead electronic locks, swapping a sticky mechanical lock, setting or resetting a combination you'll actually keep, cutting a replacement key, re-anchoring a safe that's been moved, and oiling and adjusting bolt work that's gotten stiff. If your safe came with the house and you've never trusted the old combination, we can reset it so you're the only one who knows it.

FAQ

Safe Services — Questions

Straight answers. If your question isn't here, just call — we're happy to talk it through.

It depends on the safe and why it won't open. A dead battery or a code recovery is on the low end. A high-end safe that has to be drilled and then repaired costs more, since there's real work on both ends. We don't quote a flat number blind because guessing helps nobody. Call (818) 454-1047, tell us the brand and what's happening, and we'll give you a straight estimate before any work starts.
